On 31 August 2026, Better Basics was welcomed as a guest of medical:forge, the co-working initiative run by leap:up life science within Leipzig’s biocity — a visit whose origins lie in Better Basics’ own membership of biosaxony: it was at the network’s New Year reception that a first conversation swiftly gave rise to the idea of a dedicated showroom. That idea has now taken tangible form. Two SmartRail TP units (SmartRail designed for trays and benchtops), each fitted with a different configuration of modules, together with a SmartRack mini and its accessories, have found a permanent home in the biocity, ensuring that Better Basics’ solutions are now a lasting, tangible presence on site.

Since this spring, Better Basics has been using a new, state-of-the-art plastic shot blasting system. It handles the post-processing of our SLS-manufactured components made of polyamide 12—thereby improving a crucial step between 3D printing and the final Better Basics products.

CellColab has opened its Shared Lab in Cologne – and set a clear standard for every co-working tenant from the start: safety workbenches are equipped with the SmartRack classic mini by Better Basics.
