Market launch of SmartEdge with Eco rail

As part of the funded project “SmartEdge with Eco rail”, Better Basics is bringing a suspended, modular laboratory organisation system for the fume hood to market. The project builds on the successful predecessor system SmartRack^® and takes the patented mounting and module concept to market readiness.

The aim of the project is to make laboratory workplaces more efficient, more ergonomic and more sustainable. SmartEdge enables flexible storage directly at the fume hood, improves workplace organisation and, thanks to the Eco rail, significantly reduces material use.

The support specifically covers the implementation of the market launch, the preparation of the initial production batch for market entry, and the roll-out to pilot customers and distribution partners. This specifically supports the transition from development to widespread use in everyday laboratory work.

Thanks to the suspended installation, equipment remains positioned above the hazard zone in the event of a possible spill. At the same time, cleaning the fume hood becomes considerably easier, as no equipment or fixtures remain on the floor. The system also offers advantages in terms of workplace safety: floor-standing equipment can disrupt airflow within the fume hood – SmartEdge prevents such airflow disturbances and supports consistent, even airflow.

A further focus is on sustainability and resource efficiency: the Eco rail reduces aluminium consumption by around 15%.
